With Hybrid Synergy Drive as its core technology, Toyota is exploring many solutions for the future of mobility – from battery electric vehicles, to plug-in hybrids, to fuel cell hybrids, to conventional hybrids like the FT-CH concept. If a production car based on the FT-CH concept were to be built, it will be cheaper than the Prius and will be part of a new Prius family marketing strategy that Toyota also announced at the Detroit show. To take advantage of the widespread recognition of the Prius name, Toyota plans to develop additional dedicated models to fall under the branding.
